Who am I?

Selam no?

My name is Chuchu and I’m from Konso, Ethiopia. I am 29 years old and have been an official guide in the Omo Valley since 2008. I was born and raised in one of the villages near Konso, and am passionate about introducing others to my home town, and to my country.

From day trips around Konso to multiple-day packages, I run a fully personalised tour service, so please feel free to contact me with your thoughts, ideas and plans, and we can work together to make your dream come true. To help with your planning, this site has some examples of tours I have run. These itineraries were developed with my guests to suit their interests, timeframe and budget, and can be adjusted to suit your needs, or we can work together to create something entirely new for your trip to the Omo Valley.
If you are interested in discussing your perfect trip, and its associated costs, feel free to contact me via email or Facebook.

Konso, named after the Konso people, is known for its religious traditions, waka sculptures, and nearby fossil beds. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on September 30, 1997, due to its purported universal cultural significance, and officially made a World Heritage Site in 2011. Local industries include beekeeping, cotton weaving, and agriculture. Konso’s market is held on Mondays and Thursdays at a point

2 kilometres from town along the Jinka Road. A permaculture farm, Strawberry Fields Eco-Lodge, was founded in 2007 north of town and works with international volunteers and three local schools to grow food, promote ecotourism, and provide permaculture education.
